I've had friends who were caught in a situation where they were unarmed and the other person was clearly unstable and armed (with a baseball bat, not hammer), and my friend told me how he had to play along for hours, acting all friendly, hoping to become so friendly that he could talk himself out of the situation. My friend got out of the situation by keeping it cool. That's the best way to treat many crazies looking to harm someone, if you don't have a weapon yourself. So it makes perfect sense that Paul Pelosi is smiling the way he is as the door opens. He has obviously been in that situation for a while with a guy much younger, bigger, stronger, and armed. And he managed to avoid violence until the cops showed up and the nutjob finally realised it was now or never, so he attacked Paul. And then all the tinfoil hat people come in here and claim Paul isn't acting the way they expected, so therefore even this attack has to be some sort of conspiracy thing? Yeah keep spewing the same nonsense this attacker believed in, the nonsense that pushed him over the edge. And now he's going to prison for 30 years.
